Why The Name?
It’s Heritage Family Medicine Because:
1. This is a multigenerational vision. The goal is to pass along a healthier future to our children and grandchildren. Too often we see our personal health as effecting only ourselves. In reality, our health or lack thereof greatly impacts those around us, our friends, and our family.
This is leadership by example. What we model others emulate.
If we don’t embrace a rigorous healthy lifestyle we are less likely to live long enough to be there for our children and grandchildren, or if we are there, we will be in poor condition to be a help and blessing to them. I have watched too many young parents die or be disabled by preventable diseases and illnesses. I hope you will join me in saying, “ No More.”
There are the entire realms of Epigenetics and Hereditary Health. Simplified this means that our genetic code is not static: It changes! You're not just stuck with the genes you were born with. Through healthy lifestyle modifications you can “turn off” and “turn on” certain genes to have a healthier life from the DNA through every aspect of your life (Epigenetics). This also affects Hereditary Health. Meaning that you can affect the health and the genetics that are passed on to your children and grandchildren.
2. I want to care for you and your family through all walks and stages of life.
Whether it’s being your Pediatrician during the child years, or being your personal Physician throughout your adult life, or both: I want to be there to walk with you every step of the way.
3. Because of the legacy they left for me:
My Great-Great-Grandfather, Dr. W.B. Robertson, M.D., served the people of North Carolina where he delivered medical care on horseback throughout the mountains.
My Grandfather, Dr. David Vause, M.D., retired from his tour of duty as an Air Force Flight Surgeon to be the only Doctor in Blanco County, Texas.
I, Dr. David Fields, M.D., want to carry on the Heritage they have left me of providing high quality medical care to anyone who needs it.
